Efficacy Ratings -

Efficacy Ratings are given for many of the tools available below and may be found in the upper right hand corner of each document. Efficacy ratings for all the treatments are available in one summary document as well.

Efficacy Ratings are an indication of how much evidence based research has been done on a particular intervention, treatment or methodology. Evidence based practice refers to those interventions, treatments, and methodologies that are considered effective by the current autism research base and are therefore more likely to result in positive outcomes for students.

Treatments are given a Level 1 through a Level 4 Efficacy Rating, with Level 1 being an indication that there is a significant level of research that supports the treatment and a Level 4 Efficacy Rating indicating that there is not a significant level of research supporting the treatment at this time. The levels are explained in detail in the short document Evidence Based Practice Considerations.
